Las reservas internacionales del país registraron durante la primera semana completa de marzo un incremento de 121 millones de dólares, lo que ubicó al saldo semanal de estos activos en un monto de 175 mil 767 millones de dólares, su mayor nivel desde diciembre de 2016, cuando las reservas alcanzaron los 176 mil 541 millones de dólares, informó este martes el Banco de México (Banxico).
El Banco Central mexicano argumentó que la variación semanal de las reservas internacional se derivó de un cambio en la valuación de los activos internacional de la institución en la semana que terminó el 8 de marzo.
Las reservas internacionales están integradas por divisas y oro que son propiedad del Banxico, con la particularidad de que se encuentran libres de cualquier obligación o impuesto, por lo que su disponibilidad no tiene ninguna restricción.
El estado de cuenta del Banco Central también reportó que la base monetaria (billetes y monedas en circulación y depósitos bancarios en cuenta corriente) disminuyó en 15 mil 937 millones de pesos, debido a una menor demanda del público.
La base monetaria del país alcanzó un saldo de un billón 571 mil 544 millones de pesos, lo que representó una variación anual de 6.1 por ciento respecto a la misma fecha del año anterior.
El Banxico precisó que la base monetaria al 8 de marzo de 2019 reflejó un incremento anual de 90 mil 618 millones de pesos.
Durante este mismo periodo, el Banco Central realizó operaciones de mercado abierto con instituciones bancarias, con el objetivo de compensar una expansión neta de la liquidez por un monto de 23 mil 111 millones de pesos.
